As events go, an Ironman is up there with the toughest. It consists of a 2.4 mile swim, a 112 mile bike ride and a marathon run. Add in a hot July day and it is not an easy way to spend a Sunday.Just to finish is an achievement. After months of training, seven Harriers took part in Sunday's Opel Ironman in Germany.
The 1st Harrier to finish was Richard Piron in a time of 11:19:48. Richard was the 17th MV50 to finish and in 725th position overall. It was Richard's fastest ever time for the event. The second Harrier was Tony Parello in 11:20:12. It was also a pb for Tony. The third Harrier was Kevin Willett in 11:39:02. Excellent performance by Kevin in his 1st Ironman. Also finishing in under 12 hours (think for the first time) was Gary Rudd in 11:55:00. Next to finish was Simon Fisher in 12:13:14 followed by Mark Pryor in 12:48:50. Finally, very well done to Alistair Fadden, also running his 1st Ironman, who crossed the line in 13:38:07.
