The Boddington 10k appears to be a course on which to get pb's, judged by the fact that three of the Harriers who ran there on Monday managed to achieve them. David Herincx improved his by 33 secs to 43:34, Keith Lakin improved his by 44 secs to did 51:10 and Martine Moon improved her pb by 19 secs to 57:06. Bob Wells also ran his fastest 10k this year to finish in 41:04 and Robin and Fiona Fiander who only attended the Harriers beginners night in May did 53:26 and 59:36 respectively. Well done Robin and Fiona.
According to Keith, the Boddington course was mostly flat/downhill for the first 4/5k with a steep down hill section in the first mile. Ropes were provided. As you can probably guess the second half did have some uphill bits but not particularly steep, with the exceptions of the hump back bridges over the railway and the canal. The winning time was 34:03, the first lady finished in 41:06 and there were 178 finishers. The race was well organised and the course could easily cope with more runners; however, Keith is not sure if the village hall is big enough for many more and the sale of local plants and produce.
Andrea Ward travelled up to the Ie of Skye over the weekend and ran in the Dunvegan Castle 10K. Andrea reports that it was a great little race with a mix of terrain:road, forest trail including a peat bog!, 1st 4K uphill, last 6K downhill or flat into a head-wind, almost every type of weather you could imagine. Finishing with home-made scotch broth & sandwiches for the runners! A long way to go but well worth it as Andrea's dad got to see Andrea race again after a 25 year break. Andrea was the 1st lady to finish in 41:51.

A windswept March day as yours truly made his way to Sandy Upper School for the annual Sandy 10 road race. It would be a tough encounter for the majority as race time approached. It would also act as the Club 10 Mile Championship as a good number of Harriers including Donna, Anna and Kevin made ready for the start. 10.30 as the race kicked off and left the industrial estate behind before addressing a demanding 10 miles of Bedfordshire countryside. Kevin was the first Harrier to appear in about 60 minutes, with Stuart Trevallion and Graham King not too far behind. Donna doing the business as first Harrier lady and third lady overall on the day, with Andrea and Anna making up the first three from the club.
